The Blackie Blackman Gang, Volume One is the first of the series of Will Cannon novels. The story begins with Will Cannon on the trail of the Blackman Gang and he is attacked by a bushwacker. Will finds some papers on the bushwacker that indicates that Blackman has put a ten thousand dollar bounty on his head. Will goes to the small Texas town of Estilline and gets his friend, Texas Ranger Duke Wills, to join the hunt for the Blackman Gang. Will also meets a beautiful young woman in Estilline that has been victimized by the Blackman Gang. The story goes back in time to describe some of Will's life in Virginia and the events that happened after Blackman and his gang killed Will's family. Will and Duke leave Estilline and begin their epic journey to find and kill the members of the Blackman Gang that are living at some of the ranches Blackman has stolen and in Amarillo where Blackman is running an opium ring. Will wants to cut down the odds against him before he goes to Tascosa and finally confronts Blackman. The Blackie Blackman Gang, Volume Two picks up the story from there.

Mr. Hill is a prolific writer of old time westerns. He does a very good job, and this book would be a good place to check his offerings. I have read several, including this one, and have enjoyed them all. Editing and proofing are suspect at best, but don't unduly impact on the telling of a good western story. Try one if you like Westerns. The stories , aside from the editing/proofing issues, would warrant 4 or maybe even 5 stars.Product details

Looking forward to reading volume two. Volume one was very interesting and informative. It's hard to lay the book down until you are done.
I enjoy the authors depiction of the Wast from the viewpoint of a person trying to revenge his families killers.
Enjoyed reading all the books in the Will Cannon Series. Interesting and relaxing western plots and the characters are fun to follow.
Except for the fact that there are so many errors in spelling and grammar I was enjoying this book right up to the final couple of chapters. But then the story ended and went back in time and no conclusion of any kind was offered. I feel like I wasted my time.
The first of this series is great. Spiraled down hill fast. It seems the author uses a template to publish with. Just change name of town and secondary characters then voilà new novel.
